SIERRA LEONE UPDATE

November 15, 2011

The pace of our work has slowed since the end of the lectureship. Jack Smith and I met with a number of young men at the Priscilla Street building. We talked with them about Bible study methods. They seemed very eager to learn. Ken Craig and Dan Byers stayed at the hotel. Dan met with John Kabul of the Wellington congregation and Ken studied with one of our waiters from the hotel. Later that evening Ken made his “The Big Picture of the Bible” to a small audience consisting of our driver Sheiku, Stella (Miss Sierra Leone) who we met through our driver and another friend that he brought with him.

On Sunday Ken Craig and I preached at Wellington . Ken presented a very brief summary of his material. I used the first sermon in my Remnant Series entitled “Many Are Called, Few Are Chosen.” Dan Byers and Jack Smith went to Priscilla Street where Dan taught the Bible class on John 4 and Jack preached on the subject of “Giving Glory to God.” After the services Ken departed for the airport and his return home. The rest of us returned to the hotel and enjoyed a day of rest.

Yesterday after a restful morning we went to the Crown Bakery for a respite from the food that we have been eating at the hotel. We enjoyed a pizza! We returned to the Priscilla Street building for a meeting from 5:00 – 8:00PM. The three of us presented Ken’s “The Big Picture” presentation using his PowerPoint slides that if he left with us. We had approximately 25 in attendance for this session which was held for those who were unable to attend the day lectures last week due to their work schedules.

Today we have a private Bible study scheduled for this afternoon. We are having another meeting at Priscilla Street tonight at 5:00 PM. We will be repeating other lecture topics for the benefit of those who were unable to attend the day sessions.
